GOODBYE, I'M STAYING SBOHEM, ZŮSTÁVÁM!
A French comedy about lies, revenge and a friendship
born at the very moment everything was about to fall apart.
There’s no class in getting shot in the back.”
About the production
One planned murder. One unexpected friendship. And a plan that begins to fall apart before it even gets started. The successful French comedy Goodbye, I'm Staying! delivers intelligent dark humour, sharp dialogue and a series of unexpected twists in which none of the characters can be certain of anything at all.
Jean-Charles is convinced he has found the perfect solution to his marriage. All he has to do is persuade his naive mistress Gigi to get rid of his wife Barbara. But just when everything seems to be going according to plan, the whole story begins to turn upside down.
Enter a famous writer, an eccentric neighbour, several prawns, far too many secrets and, above all, two women who may have more in common than anyone could have imagined.
Goodbye, I'm Staying! is a comedy about love, lies, revenge and second chances. Above all, it proves that even the most perfect plan cannot survive a collision with human nature.

The world of the production
A dark comedy built on precise timing, almost invisible details and a reality that begins to unravel elegantly to the sound of French music.
Production
The production process relied on the precise choreography of small details: letters, books, a telephone, a typewriter, a glass of wine and even the simple opening of a door became part of a mechanism in which every tiny action triggers another twist.
Scenography
The set remained natural and immediately readable: a living room in central Paris, a window, doors, a sofa, a writing desk, lamps and paintings. The realism of the space was preserved, while the colour palette gained a bold, almost flamboyant accent that shifts the dark comedy into a subtly caricatured world.
Costumes
The costumes deliberately went against the conventional image of dark comedy. Instead of restrained elegance, they use bold colour, heightened fashion and gentle caricature, while keeping the characters grounded in reality so that the humour feels not like a mask, but a natural part of who they are.
Direction
The directing approach was built on rhythm, precise timing and the contrast between genuine danger and absurd human behaviour. A murder, a farewell letter, a thesaurus, a prawn allergy and a forgotten telephone become a line of dominoes, collapsing one after another with distinctly French lightness.
Lighting & Music
The lighting remained simple and functional: a summer afternoon, evening, Paris at night beyond the window and the intimate glow of lamps. Music with a French flavour sustained the pace, elegance and irony of a story in which reality turns into a perfectly timed comic trap.
